Cameron...

Well, I went to a Charleston Battery soccer game last night with the Waves Students last night, and let me tell you how traumatic an event it was. All because of Cameron W.

I have worked in youth ministry for over seven years now. That is a long time! Since I was 18 I have been a Youth Leader. Since being in the military I have had the privilege of moving a lot and have since worked in leadership in four youth groups! I am about to turn 25 which in no means is old. I consider myself to be young until I feel old. I know, a lot of you students are saying that 25 is already old... but if you ask a 25 year old if they are old, they will say no... and if you ask an old person (sorry Marcy) if 25 is old, they too will say no. So, by the power of wisdom... I am confirming that 25 years old is not to be considered old. But... That doesn't mean that you can not feel old from time to time. I am not talking about sore backs, or ankles... or having to take a nap at two in the afternoon or you will have a headache at five in the evening kind of feeling old. No, I am talking about getting laughed at from a teenager for the first time because of something you are wearing kind of feeling old. Yes, it is true... I have reached that point.

So, I walk into the church last night to go to the game and Cameron W. doesn't say hi, or what's up?... no he says **Laughing** "Nice socks Andy!". Ok... my idea of an ankle sock is one that comes right above your ankle line... I THOUGHT that that was ok to wear. I thought wrong. Immediately the whole youth group was laughing... I guess in today's standards an ankle sock comes to right under your ankle, and it is not cool to where anything higher than that. Who knew?!?!?!?

So, I proceeded to stooping myself to the level of taking my shoes off and learning (from a high schooler) how to turn 'above the ankle' ankle socks into 'below the ankle' ankle socks. It is a delicate skill of folding about two inches of the toe part of the sock up and over the top of your foot and then putting your shoes back on. All of a sudden I had REAL ankle socks and got the ok from the group to be seen in public with them. Good thing!

Cameron... the group just wouldn't be as cool without you. Thanks for making me cool once again.

P.S.~~ Our team lost 3 - 0, but we all had a great time...

I am glad that you are now hip enough to be with the youth. You have to look cool are they won't want to be seen in public with you. Jeremiah had to hear the ankle sock lession too.

By the way on your Andy's link you spelled my name wrong. We have been friends almost a year and you can't remember that my name is spelled CYNDI!!
